A good lasagna pan is an important piece of cookware for lasagna lovers. Even though a plate filled with layers of rich sauces, meat, creamy cheese, and vegetables is delicious, you'll need the right lasagna pan to pull off a hearty meal.

Aluminum - Aluminum conducts heat excellently and is a lightweight material that is great for lasagna pans. It comes in durable and scratch-resistant options. On the downside though, it is not good with heat distribution and can get worn down by tomato sauces and other acidic foods. 

Ceramic - This is a good choice because it heats up slowly and retains heat for longer. Another great feature is that acidic foods will have no effect on ceramic lasagna pans. Ceramic pans don't need non-stick coatings either because they have a natural glaze that essentially achieves the same goal. And because they are visually attractive, you can serve guests directly from these lasagna baking dishes. 

Glass - This is a favorite choice for many chefs because just like ceramic, it cooks slowly, but retains heat for long periods of time. Glass pans do an excellent job of browning your lasagna nicely, giving it that slightly burnt cheese topping look. 

Cast Iron - The special thing about cast iron pan is that it's versatility. You can cook on any hot surface like a grill, stove or make lasagna on a campfire while camping and not worry about your pan getting cracked, chipped or damaged. Cleaning is also a breeze because you can use any sponge and not worry about scratching the surface of the pan. To use a cast iron lasagna pan effectively, make sure you pre-heat it before baking to ensure that heat is evenly spread. 

Stainless Steel - These are rust-resistant lasagna pans that are scratch-proof and attractive. Choosing the right stainless-steel pan can be tricky because if it isn't made with copper or aluminum core, it will be terrible at conducting heat. Copper or aluminum helps improve how heat is conducted.

Silicone - Silicone lasagna pans have a good finish that is non-sticky, making it easy to lift out the lasagna when it is ready. These pans are food grade silicone and usually BPA-free. Another great feature is that they take less space because they are foldable and can be stored in just about any space.

Copper - We all know that copper is a great heat conductor, and even though copper lasagna pans are expensive, they conform to any temperature, distributing heat evenly.

Carbon Steel - This is one material that gets better with age. It is a cross between a stainless steel pan and a cast iron one. They are usually coated with a non-stick finish, but as mentioned earlier, care should be taken when using non-stick pans for lasagna as the acidic content from the tomato sauce will slowly degrade the non-stick coating. Carbon steel pans should not be left in water for a long time, preferably, use very hot water, dish soap, and vigorous scrubbing to wash the pan.
